2005 chevrolet trailblazer review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Improved safety features for a superb family vehicle. introductionchevrolet trailblazer is powerful, rugged and capable, yet smooth, comfortable and civilized. Its rigid chassis, sophisticated suspension, powerful brakes and impressive details place it among the best of the mid-size suvs. It's stable and manuverable, and provides a smooth ride. Trailblazer comes standard with a superbly smooth and modern inline six-cylinder engine.  an extended-wheelbase model called the trailblazer ext adds three-row seating, accomodating up to seven people. It comes standard with the same excellent six-cylinder engine, but a new v8 is also available.  new for 2005, the vortec 5300 v8 with its displacement on demand technology promises about 8 percent better fuel economy than the engine it replaces. Equipped with the v8, a 2wd trailblazer ext can tow up to 7,000 pounds. The ext needs the v8 due to its heavier weight, and because of its much greater length, the ext lacks the handling and stability that make the standard trailblazer such a great family vehicle.  curtain side-impact airbags with a rollover sensing system designed to provide increased head protection are available on 2005 models. Also new is an occupant-sensing system for the front passenger-side airbag. There are also improved seats, refinements to the navigation system and more bright trim for the interior. lineuptrailblazer comes in two trim levels, ls and lt. An optional package 1,185) adds remote keyless entry, content-theft alarm, heated foldaway mirrors, a rear window defogger, color-keyed carpeted floor mats, crossbars for the luggage rack, and charcoal-colored body-side moldings.  lt 30,370) adds fog lamps, an overhead console with homelink transmitter and travelnote digital recorder, body-color grille and door handles, eight-way power for the driver's seat, a trailer wiring harness and 17-inch aluminum wheels. Two-tone leather seating surfaces, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual front eight-way power reclining bucket seats with adjustable lumbar support is available as a package 1,180).  trailblazer ext ls 29,840) and trailblazer ext lt 32,020) are equipped similarly to their standard-wheelbase counterparts, but add third-row seating plus separate rear-seat heating and air conditioning controls. So is cruise control 275), a tilt-and-slide sunroof 950), and onstar 695), although onstar and cruise control are available as a special package for just $70. Adjustable pedals 150) and navigation 1,600-$1,995) are offered on the lt only. Xm satellite radio 325) is optional on all models, and an mp3 player is offered on ls 135). Dvd entertainment 1,295) is available on all models. Various axle ratios (3. 42, 3. 73, and 4. 10:1) and a locking differential are also avialable. walkaroundtrailblazer's styling helped blaze the trail for the latest chevy truck design. It's an aggressive look with bold headlamps and a split grille. The horizontal bar that splits the grille, headlamps and turn signals is chromed on the ls, body-colored on the lt. The front bumper features a large opening with two vertical slats, and the optional foglights are mounted down low. The front end of the trailblazer makes it look like a scaled-down suburban or silverado.  overall, trailblazer looks sturdy and neat, with confident lines that express utility. The pillars and window lines are graceful, while the big fender flares are visually bold. At the rear is a convenient step in the center of the bumper. But the stacked round taillights look lumpy and googly-eyed.  the track (the distance between the left and right tires) is the widest in the class, 2. 2 inches wider than the ford explorer in front and nearly an inch wider in the rear. This gives the trailblazer more hip and shoulder room.  the easiest way to tell the trailblazer from the trailblazer ext is to look at the rear passenger doors; they're full-size doors on the ext but the rear wheel wells cut into them on the standard-length model. The seven-seat trailblazer ext is 16 inches longer in wheelbase than the standard five-seat trailblazer and looks disproportianately long and narrow. interiorthe trailblazer's seats have been revised for improved comfort for 2005. Seat adjustments are manual in the ls. Eight-way power operation with memory and seat heaters is available on fully optioned lt models. Power adjustable pedals on the lt 150) allow shorter drivers to move the brake and accelerator pedals up to three inches closer for better positioning and comfort without having to move to close to the airbag-equipped steering wheel. It's a good safety feature and popular among women.  the standard trailblazer seats five passengers, while the trailblazer ext seats seven. Second-row space is nearly identical between trailblazer and trailblazer ext. Both offer more room in the second row than the ford explorer, particularly hip room.  cargo space in the ext is generous. The cargo floor isn't as flat as we'd like, though, and a gap between the two third-row seats makes it less dog-friendly.  the explorer, however, provides a bit more third-row people room than the trailblazer ext. Head, hip, and leg room in the explorer's third row measure 38. 9, 45. 4, and 34. 9 inches, respectively. The corresponding numbers for the trailblazer ext are 38. 1, 49. 2, and 31. 2. Trailblazer ext is 2. 6 inches wider than explorer, which accounts for the additional hip room. But clearly, the explorer's independent rear suspension, and resulting low floor, allowed ford to pack more leg room and head room into a significantly shorter wheelbase.  all trailblazers feature complete and clean instrumentation. A big tachometer is on the left, speedometer in center, and on the right are smaller gauges for water, battery, gas and oil. Heating and air conditioning can be controlled separately by the driver and front-seat passenger. Ext models add separate climate controls for rear-seat passengers as well. Interior lights abound, including reading lights.  the center console includes an open storage bin, an enclosed compartment and two cup holders forward of the gear lever plus two cup holders for the rear passengers. There are pockets in the front doors and behind the front seats, though none in the rear doors. Behind the rear seat is a small hidden compartment under the floor, while optional features include a cargo net, scrolling tonneau cover and power outlet. An overhead console on the lt includes a sunglasses holder plus travelnote digital recorder.  head-curtain side-impact airbags 495) unfold from the roof rail between the a-pillar and side window header. When the bag deploys in a moderate-to-severe side impact, it is angled somewhat toward the window to help provide protection for front and rear-seat outboard passengers. The new system replaces the previous seat-mounted system, which protected the driver and front-seat passenger only. Trailblazers equipped with head-curtain airbags also feature a new rollover sensing system that triggers both the side-curtain airbags and safety belt pretensioners. The rollover-sensing module uses a complex algorithm based on lateral and vertical accelerations, roll rate and vehicle speed to determine whether to deploy the safety systems. Standard on the 2005 trailblazer is gm's passenger sensing system (pss), which can deactivate the front-passenger airbag if it senses an unoccupied front passenger seat or the presence of a smaller occupant. A status indicator on the instrument panel alerts occupants that the passenger airbag is on or off. Even with this system, however, we strongly recommend carrying under-age passengers in an appropriate child seat placed in the second. driving impressiontrailblazer's six-cylinder engine is smooth and quiet. And the faster it goes, the smoother it seems to get. It's an inline-6, a design that's inherently better balanced than a v6. It idles so smoothly that a device was added that prevents the starter from grinding if the key is turned when the engine is already running.  called the vortec 4200, the 4. 2-liter.

2004 chrysler pacifica review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Pacifica is not a minivan. It's not an suv nor is it a station wagon. Pacifica takes its name from chrysler's pacifica design studio in southern california, where it was conceived several years ago.  pacifica doesn't look like other crossovers. A 250-horsepower v6 from the sporty chrysler 300m sedan delivers plenty of thrust and the automatic shifts smoothly. On the road, pacifica is smooth and quiet, with a rear suspension that comes from a mercedes e-class sedan. Available all-wheel drive provides all-weather traction and handling. Pacifica doesn't look like anything else on the road. It's less radical and less expensive than the nissan murano and infiniti fx45 crossovers, its glass-to-steel proportions are new and different, yet by its grille, the pacifica couldn't be anything but a chrysler.  pacifica is as much as 18 inches longer and 6 inches wider than some of its crossover competitors. Yet it is almost 3 inches lower to the ground than a typical minivan, which makes it easier to climb inside.  while the pacifica is in the lower part of the e-class price range, it is still a chrysler, as evidenced by its homegrown powertrain, the biggest, most powerful v6 chrysler has ever made, more than enough to haul typical family loads, and rated to tow as much as 3500 pounds. interiorclimbing into the chrysler pacifica is easy because it is relatively low to the ground. Redundant controls are mounted on the steering wheel for the cruise control and sound system. There's just enough brushed nickel-plating inside, on the shifter surround, the ventilators, and the door handles, to brighten up the interior without it looking gaudy.  the instrument panel is done as one swooping enclosure that goes from the back of the left door around to the back of the right front door. The dash features a major hood and a minor hood to keep the sun off the instrument faces. Under the sweeping hood, there's an interesting-looking set of instruments and controls, and right in the center of the speedometer, there's the small navigation screen, exactly where it should be for safest use. The dvd-based nav system is set up and run by a circular switch panel to the right of the steering wheel. Chrysler's new system is one of the easiest we've encountered, far simpler than the mercedes-benz system.  third-row seats fold down 50/50 and disappear for large cargoes. Second-row seats can be split into two sections and folded over to handle still larger cargoes. The second-row seats, split by the standard console, are as handsome as the front seats, but they do have to fold over for cargo, so they're not quite as cushy as the fronts. All the seat-folding symbols and directions were easy to follow the first time out. driving impressionthe pacifica we drove was a loaded-up version with the big stereo system, sirius satellite radio, the in-dash navigation system, and all-wheel drive. Chrysler is already working on that. But no matter how it sounds, the engine delivers. The autostick feature for manual shifting is fun to use, and the all-wheel-drive system is transparent. We were a little disappointed that the pacifica didn't come with a more flexible five-speed automatic, however.  under normal conditions, the all-wheel-drive system sends all of the power to the front wheels. But it can transfer up to 90 percent of the power to the rear wheels. It does this whenever the front wheels lose grip (under hard acceleration, for example). This feature helps the pacifica sail through corners like a sports sedan, rain or shine. The all-wheel-drive uses a viscous coupling in the center differential and an open differential at the rear.  while the steering system is not race-car communicative or direct, it's better than many, and the steering wheel feels good in the hands. We found the suspension a willing partner in the vehicle's performance, smooth and supple while controlling lean and wallow. The isolated front and rear subframes, the long wheelbase and wide stance really help to deliver a quality ride. The brakes got a workout from us, and they responded every time without fade or smell or any sign of distress. Abs comes standard, allowing the drive to maintain steering control under panic braking. summarychrysler pacifica turns and accelerates well in the dry weather of the california wine country, and we're itching to find out how it goes in a blinding rainstorm or on top of 12 inches of snow.  whether this really is a whole new kind of family transportation device or not, a 'segment buster' in chrysler's words, it's a lot of very versatile vehicle for the money. 2007 buick terraza review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The buick terraza is quiet, orderly, generally understated, and very well equipped for the money. Its build quality meets or beats the best in the class, and it has the minivan essentials covered. The terraza comfortably seats seven in a nicely designed and finished interior. It comes with a new 240hp 3. 9 liter v-6 with variable valve timing. Onstar navigation and communication are standard on all trim levels and 8-spoke 17-inch wheels are now an option. The terraza's 2nd-row bucket seats fold and remove, and a 50/50 3rd-row bench folds flat atop the cargo floor. For 2007, the buick terazza all-wheel drive and independent rear suspension options have been discontinued. Bucket Seats

2002 ford taurus review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Soccer mom with sex appeal. introductiontaurus is the popular mid-size sedan without the boredom factor. It's a bowl of chocolate-chip mint in a sea of plain vanilla. While most sedans in its class seem designed to blend into the scenery, the taurus stands out like a wildebeest in plaid pajamas.  not only does the taurus look like it came from the future, it drives like it came over from europe, and with something double its really quite reasonable price tag. Two engines are available, and both deliver a vigorous response. Taurus rides smoothly enough for family duty, but with crisp and sporty handling that would satisfy an aspiring formula 1 driver.  not only that, but the cabin is functional and attractive, with controls that are straightforward and easy to use. The materials, switchgear and interior textures have a high-quality look and feel. lineupin fact, the only serious downside of the taurus is its dauntingly confusing model lineup. Already one of the most complicated we have ever seen, it has been subtly reshuffled for 2002.  lx 18,750) is the least changed of the trim levels. Ses deluxe 21,675) adds bucket seats, console, floor-mounted gear selector, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a rear spoiler. It also comes with 'aero' bumpers and the more powerful engine, automatic headlights, automatic climate control, power adjustable pedals, heater mirrors, a perimeter anti-theft system, machined aluminum road wheels, and both cassette and cd capability. In general, however, taurus wagons are slightly better equipped than their sedan counterparts. Of cargo; or with six passengers aboard, there's still 38. 8 cu. Behind them.  as mentioned, two engines power the taurus. Lower-level models use a 3. 0-liter ohv 12-valve v6 ford calls the vulcan (presumably after the god of iron working, not earth's staunchest interplanetary ally). The vulcan produces 155 horsepower and 185 pounds-feet of torque. Although not particularly quick from a standstill, once rolling it delivers more than adequate performance, along with a nicely rorty exhaust note.  the more sophisticated duratec v6 displaces the same 3. 0 liters, but has dual overhead cams working 24 valves. This higher-revving power plant produces 200 horsepower and 200 pounds-feet of torque. The grille is broad, aggressive, and unmistakably ford-oval, grinning between the large cat's-eye headlamps. Taurus' flanks undulate handsomely with crisp character lines, and its rear end bears a resemblance to the sexy stern of the jaguar s-type. interiorseating arrangements have been revised for 2002. Lx and se sedans, previously five-seaters, now nominally seat six, thanks to a seating console between their separate front seats. This is the same arrangement used on last year's ses, and that model keeps it for 2002. Leather bucket seats are a no-charge option in every taurus sedan except the lx.  all wagons have the seating console, but sel deluxe versions also offer leather buckets as a no-cost option.  primary controls and instrumentation are admirably simple, straightforward and easy to use. Ford's well-publicized adjustable pedals (standard on sel, and a $120 option on most other tauri) make a comfortable driving position possible for even very short-legged drivers. The small-diameter, leather-wrapped steering wheel (ses deluxe on up) has a pleasingly thick grip. Buttons for the cruise control are mounted on the steering wheel and are easy to operate. The highly legible white-on-black gauges include an analog speedometer and tachometer. A single stalk on the left of the steering column operates the washer and wipers and the bright/dim control for the headlights. The power-window automatic-down circuit operates on the driver's-side window only, and there is no automatic-up. On the dashboard just below the tachometer is an on/off switch for the optional traction control, useful when driving with chains and/or in snow.  on the other hand, the central console containing audio and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (hvac) controls is an intimidating sea of similar-looking push-buttons and toggle switches. While elsewhere the taurus is ergonomically first-rate, operating the controls on this panel requires careful reading of the various closely spaced labels. Among the audio controls, only the volume is a rotary knob. It would be more convenient if the station-tuner were a twist-knob as well.  the removable six-cd changer/cassette is cleverly concealed in the center console at the driver's right elbow. With only one touch of the button, it opened automatically. But to close it requires holding the button down, perhaps for safety considerations. The cushions and seatbacks are more firm than soft, but firm is usually best on long drives.  the roomy rear compartment seats three, although the seat forms two semi-buckets and has a pull-down central armrest containing two cupholders. An hvac duct at the rear of the center console provides climate control for rear passengers. Dual baby-seat anchors are provided on each side of the rear seat. In the se wagon and ses and sel sedans, the rear seatback is split 60/40 and folds down, providing an enormous pass-through luggage capability for skis and other long items. The trunk is of generous size and contains the taurus' mini-spare tire. driving impressionthe 2002 ford taurus is a genuinely satisfying car to drive. Its duratec v6 is as responsive as a finger snap, delivering crisp acceleration from low revs straight through to the glass-smooth full-throttle shift point. This engine not only provides good thrust, it makes an understated but nicely throaty declaration that it means business. Its shifts are positive, authoritative, and at the same time, almost impossible to feel. Its all-independent suspension provides a smooth, impact-free ride. Unusual in a family sedan, taurus uses gas-pressurized shock absorbers, so that when it is pushed in the corners, it remains stable, nimble and ready for more. Cornered hard, its body roll is moderate, and the nicely tuned variable-ratio power rack-and-pinion steering delivers a steady stream of road information. 2001 chevrolet blazer review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The blazer remains a competent vehicle and it costs much less than the new models. lineupafter simplifying the blazer lineup for 2000, chevrolet has added a new blazer variation for 2001. Called xtreme, it is available only as a two-door, and only with two-wheel drive. A california cruiser's dream machine, xtreme comes with a special z87 lowered suspension; low-profile p235/60r16 eagle ls tires; deep-dish aluminum wheels; and an aggressively spoilered, clad, and color-keyed exterior. Xtreme prices start at $21,125.  the rest of the model line continues unchanged. Prices range from $24,770 for the 2wd ls up to $32,125 for the 4wd trailblazer. walkaroundchevy blazer is a traditional suv, all truck with separate body-and-frame construction. Variations in the grille, bumper, and wheels distinguish one trim level from another.  all blazers are powered by a 4. 3-liter vortec v6. This 90-degree v6 has a cast-iron block and head and overhead valves, and runs happily on 87 octane gasoline. Although redlined at 5600 rpm, it reaches its peak 190 horsepower at 4400 rpm. And, with a very useful 250 pound-feet of torque at 2800 rpm, there's little need to rev it into the red. Autotrac combines the best of full-time and part-time 4wd by adding an 'auto 4wd' button. In this mode, the transfer case remains in 2wd until wheel slip is detected. An electric servo then shifts the transfer case into 4wd until prop shaft speeds are equalized, and then returns it to 2wd. If multiple 'slip events' are detected, the transfer case remains in 4wd for a longer time. Autotrac also has a transfer case neutral position for towing behind a recreational vehicle.  all blazers use a short-/long-arm front suspension and a live axle on leaf springs at the rear (variable-rate, multi-leaf springs on trailblazer). 4x4 models are sprung by torsion bars up front, while 4x2's have coil springs. Using firm de carbon shock absorbers and stiffer spring rates, the z85 package has a more controlled ride than the old smooth ride suspension. Zr2 substitutes stronger parts throughout the chassis, plus skid plates, a track bar for the locking rear axle, a 3. 9-inch wider tread and stiffer springs with bilstein gas-pressure shocks.  aluminum wheels are standard on all blazers, differing in design according to model. Though not as radical as larger 4x4 rides, the blazer has a higher seating height than the typical sedan. The payback is that commanding view of the road that suv owners cherish.  inside, the lt features standard 'premium cloth' high-back bucket seats with eight-way power standard for the driver. Power is optional for the front passenger seat, and two-setting memory seat adjustment is available for the driver's seat.  the front seats are broad with limited bolstering. They are more like comfortable chairs than sports-car bucket seats. An annoying bulge in the front passenger's footwell accommodates the blazer's exhaust. The rear bench is low; it is comfortable for two adults, though three will fit. The rear seatback splits and folds 60-40 for cargo flexibility.  the blazer comes with full instrumentation that is well laid out; it shares its instrument panel with gm's other blazer-class trucks. General motors has made major strides in its minor controls, and the dash of the trailblazer is an excellent example. Tilt wheel, two auxiliary power outlets, am/fm stereo with cd player, and an overhead console with an outside temperature readout are also standard. New for 2001 is onstar, gm's remote communications system, standard on lt and trailblazer. Air conditioning is standard on all blazers, with automatic climate control optional on the lt and standard on trailblazer. driving impressionthe engine fires off eagerly with a twist of the key and settles to an idle that's steady but telegraphs some of the basic imbalance of a 90-degree v6. That smoothes as revs increase, and in the operating range between 2000 and 3000 rpm the vortec is a friendly companion. Full throttle causes the v6 to accelerate with a healthy growl that gets louder as revs rise. But the reward is an easily discernable improvement in responsiveness, a reduction in float and, thanks to greater roll resistance, less lean in the corners. The result is an overall greater feel of control and confidence at the minor cost of a slightly bumpier ride.  the auto 4wd mode can be used at all times. It keeps the transfer case in two-wheel drive until slip occurs, so there's no fuel-mileage penalty. The v6 operates in the low 2000-rpm range at highway speeds and, except for a subtle bass-line from the engine and a steady road rumble up through the suspension, the ride is quiet enough for easy conversation between front and rear passengers. The tires selected by chevrolet are free of whine and aren't so heavy as to overwhelm the suspension. A slight whisper of wind noise around the a-pillars is the only other distraction. The ride, though firm, is not at all harsh or jiggly. Not all sport utilities are this civilized over the road, and we wouldn't hesitate to drive a high-mile day in the blazer.  loading for a big trip would be easy. Access to the commodious cargo compartment is via a rear liftgate. It will do everything a car will do, and almost as well. Plus it adds almost unstoppable mobility in the worst weather and the capability to go where the roads don't. 2006 chevrolet impala review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. New structure, new styling, new interior. introductionthe impala has been changing, morphing, and maturing with the vagaries of the market since 1958 when the first one showed up as a coupe and convertible.  now, the chevrolet impala has been substantially upgraded for 2006. The 2006 impala features new and very attractive exterior styling, a new interior, and a choice of three new engines.  the new impala is a comfortable and convenient car, roomy, easy to get in, with big grab-style door handles. It's a practical sedan with innovative flip-and-fold back seats and folding rear seatbacks. And it comes well-equipped with safety features, including side-curtain airbags. The impala lt best exemplifies the model line, especially when ordered with the larger, 3. 9-liter engine, which delivers responsive performance. The ltz upgrades with leather, a very nice xm satellite radio setup and other convenience features.  an inexpensive pricing structure with loads of rebates on it puts the new impala on the shopping list for family sedans. Impala competes with the ford five hundred, chrysler 300, dodge charger, honda accord, toyota camry, and nissan altima.  the ss stuffs a small-block v8 into this package. It comes with the bare essentials, such as air conditioning, power windows and locks, am/fm/cd, cruise control, cloth upholstery, a bench seat, and 16-inch steel wheels. Anti-lock brakes are optional 600).  the lt is available with the 3. 5-liter v6 21,860) or a new 3. 9-liter v6 24,760), which includes 17-inch alloy wheels. The ss comes with 18-inch wheels and tires and a performance suspension.  safety features that come standard include dual front smart air bags, and side-curtain roof-mounted air bags. Underneath, it gets a stiff new body and chassis structure, retuned suspensions with a 10-mm wider track, and new 16-, 17- and 18-inch wheels and tires.  the ls, lt and ltz share one front end design, while the ss has a completely different nose architecture. interiorthe new impala has a lot going for it inside as well, with a completely new, cleaned-up interior, reshaped and reupholstered seats, and flip/fold rear seats.  we felt pretty comfortable overall inside the impala. The seats have firmer cushions and increased lumbar support than previous models. We didn't find the ss seats particularly comfortable or supportive, with too much lumbar support and not enough side bolstering to retain the upper body in corners. Optional leather-covered seating has a new style of seams around the perimeter and french seams on the center sections.  the impala also has a new twin-brow instrument panel design that wraps around into the door panels. Ls, lt and ltz models have a wood trim, with brushed silver trim optional. The impala ss comes standard with metallic trim panels, with wood trim as an option. We found the panel pleasing to the eye, colorful, entertaining and easy to use, with a nice all-of-a-piece unity and style to it. We found the interior materials at least one grade better than the usual chevrolet stuff.  the optional dual-zone climate control system can have up to a 12-degree temperature difference side-to-side. It's a snap to use, with large, round control knobs and good markings. The optional remote engine start system comes with a 200-foot operating range and automatic climate pre-conditioning to warm or cool the interior. The dashboard has an expanded driver information center, now with more than 50 different alerts, depending on the vehicle's equipment. The base audio system includes am/fm/cd and six speakers. An optional mp3/cd-radio is configured for xm satellite radio, with a two-line, 32-character display and the capability to select freely between am, fm and xm. Setting these presets is as easy as holding the button down. A big round knob in the center allows quick volume adjustments. The optional icdx radio adds an in-dash six-cd changer. All radios include a standard auxiliary input jack for external devices such as an ipod or remote cassette player.  the rear seat is roomy and comfortable for two adults or three kids, but not three adults. The rear seat cushions flip forward to create a covered storage area under the seat (with cushions down) and grocery bag hooks when the cushions are flipped. The seatback also folds down flat to create a large pass-through port to the trunk.  trunk space, at 18. 5 cubic feet, is more than competitive in the segment, and it has a huge opening for easy loading. driving impressionthe new chevrolet impala comes with a new generation of v6 engines. We found them to be smooth and quiet if not bristling with power. Variable valve timing is a first for the impala's cam-in-block v6 engines. The system changes the orientation of the camshaft, automatically adjusting the timing of the intake and exhaust valves for better performance, economy, and emissions. Thus, a system that started out on very expensive imported cars has now reached down to the lowly chevy v6 engines and made them better.  the 3. 5-liter v6 that comes on lt and ls models generates 211 horsepower and 214 pound-feet of torque. The 3. 9-liter v6 that comes on ls and ltz models produces 242 horsepower and 242 pound-feet of torque. We're expecting both engines to earn fuel economy ratings of about 19/29 mpg city/highway.  with 303 horsepower, the impala ss has more power and torque than any other entry in the class, but the chassis that comes with the v8 needs taming. While we appreciated the extra power and torque available in a kickdown or passing situation, and we loved the brawny, muscular sound of this engine at full throttle, it's a challenge to launch cleanly and quickly at the same time. Besides wheelspin, there's a lot of torque steering. This system helps provide up to 8 percent better fuel economy in light-load driving conditions. However, there is a lot of pitch, dive, and body roll in this chassis, and a lot of uncertain driving moments with the added power of the ss. Steering is over-assisted, fairly numb and uncommunicative.  the impala's front suspension is a macpherson strut coil-over-spring independent design, with gas-charged struts and a stabilizer bar with new, taller jounce bumpers. The rear suspension uses a trailing arm, tri-link setup with gas-charged struts and coil springs. A rear stabilizer bar is standard on all models. The new abs includes electronic brake-force distribution. summarythe new chevrolet impala represents an improvement over previous models. The 3. 5 and 3. 9 v6 lt and ltz versions are pleasing to drive overall. While the ss cuts a conservative but dashing figure with its quiet badging and giant five-spoke, 18-inch wheels, it's got more power than it k. Personally put over 1,000 miles on it. The tires are slightly worn with about 75% of tread life left. The interior was well maintained and is extra clean. The exterior is clean and in good condition. The engine is functioning properly and has no issues. The transmission shifts very smoothly. The brakes are in great condition. The battery is in excellent condition. The car was previously owned by a non smoker. Power Windows✔ Tachometer✔ Power Locks✔ AM/FM✔ Cruise Control✔ Air Conditioning
