2009 chrysler town and country review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. America's family friendly minivan. introductionchrysler redesigned the town & country minivan for 2008 and adds new safety technologies for 2009. With these seating arrangements, chrysler bills the town & country as the ultimate family friendly vehicle, and we agree.  the 2009 chrysler town & country is offered with three v6 engines. The base engine, a 3. 3-liter v6, lacks power and isn't very fuel efficient. The 3. 8-liter v6 is adequate for around-town duty, but the best choice is the available 4. 0-liter v6. The town & country is a big vehicle, however, and it is not nimble. It is prone to body lean in turns and the ride can feel floaty at highway speeds. The honda odyssey and nissan quest are more car-like and sportier.  on the other hand, the town & country's entertainment and seating options are the best in the class, matched only by the dodge grand caravan. The standard stow 'n go seating tucks the second-row seats nicely into the floor, and when those seats are up, the floor bins offer storage space. The second row turns to face the third row with a table in between. It helps keep the kids entertained with games of checkers, a place to draw, or any number of other possibilities. The dual screens allow different viewing options for kids that can't agree on what to watch. And for the adults up front, chrysler's uconnect hard-drive radio stores hundreds of songs.  in addition to the new safety options, chrysler has updated the brake system for 2009 to reduce noise, vibration and harshness. New smartbeam headlights that dim automatically are available, and chrysler has added more equipment to the base model. The equipment shuffling has increased the base price considerably (almost $4000), so the town & country is no longer an inexpensive choice.  overall, however, the 2009 town & country does what a minivan should. It is a great vehicle for families that need to haul kids and cargo on a regular basis. And the seating and entertainment options will prevent a lot of the fights that inevitably accompany road trips. The limited upgrades to a 251-hp 4. 0-liter v6 with the six-speed automatic. Also offered are chrysler's uconnect multimedia suite 1,300) with a rearview camera, chrysler's uconnect phone hands-free cell phone link and chysler's uconnect gps, which adds a navigation system with real-time traffic and voice activation to the uconnect tunes 30-gigabyte hard-drive radio. Three rear dvd entertainment systems are offered. The lx model is available with entertainment group 1 2,120), which has a single rear dvd screen, and also comes with sirius satellite radio, a rearview camera, and a 115-volt power outlet. Entertainment group 3 2,020) for the limited model has two rear video screens with two dvd players, plus sirius backseat tv. A trailer tow group 600) includes heavy-duty engine cooling, trailer wiring harness, and load-leveling rear air suspension. Stand-alone options include two integrated child seats 225) for the second row, a sunroof 895), a power-folding third-row seat 595), and sirius backseat tv 495). Several of the higher line standard features are also available for the lower line models.  new for 2009 are chrysler's rear cross path and blind spot alert systems. Both are offered, along with uconnect phone, in a safety group for the limited 825). The short wheelbase body style was dropped with the 2008 redesign. Sizewise, the town & country's size is comparable to several competitors. The nissan quest, kia sedona, honda odyssey, and toyota sienna are all within two inches, plus or minus, in overall length. The roof is wide at the top, also contributing to the boxy look.  the snout features a large grille heavily influenced by that of the chrysler sebring and pacifica. The body sides have a clean, simple design, as the last model's side strakes have been eliminated. The rear liftgate is available with power operation, which is handy, but the rear glass doesn't open separately, which isn't. Chrome accents on the front and rear fascias, door handles, belt molding, and mirrors lend an upscale appearance. interiorthe town & country's competitive advantage can be found on the inside. While ambiance and materials quality are not tops in the class, thoughtful features are. The chrysler town & country is brimming with them.  first the mundane. Hard plastic dominates the dash and doors. The only padded surfaces are found on the captain's chairs' fold-down armrests, and they are an unimpressive looking rubberized material. The gauges are easy to spot and the various controls are clearly marked.  the radio and/or uconnect tunes/gps system is set high on the center of the dash for easy access. With either system, the controls are easy to use, but those on the right side are a bit of a reach for the driver. The cd/dvd changer is also set low, making it a possible distraction to use while driving. The gearshift is mounted between the radio and the instrument panel. Both systems have a 30-gigabyte (up from 20 gigs last year) hard drive to hold music, pictures, and, with the navigation system, navigation map information. Both systems are capable of holding hundreds, and even thousands of songs.  front-seat room and comfort are typical for a minivan. The front captain's chairs afford an upright driving position with an suv-like view of the road. There is plenty of head room, and leg room will only be lacking for the tallest drivers. A tilt steering wheel and available adjustable. AM/FM✔ Bucket Seats✔ Power Locks✔ Climate Control✔ Air Conditioning✔ Navigation System✔ Sunroof/Moonroof✔ Aluminum Wheels

2011 chrysler 300 review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. The result is an american luxury car with room, comfort, power and presence.  the 2011 chrysler 300 succeeds a model that was enormously successful, a big sedan with rear-wheel drive that served as the brand's flagship. Replacing it during a period of grave uncertainty at chrysler was a three-and-a-half-year program during which ownership changed three times, from cerberus to the federal government, through bankruptcy and then to fiat's control. Under those circumstances, it's something of a miracle that the replacement for the 300 came out as well as it did.  for 2011, chrysler 300 looks much slicker. Aided by a new windshield design laid back three inches farther than the windshield on the original model, the 2011 chrysler 300 achieves a drag coefficient of only 0. 32. It looks bolder and classier than the previous version. The luxury group 3,250) includes luxury leather trimmed bucket seats, climate controlled front seats, heated rear seats, wood and leather wrapped heated steering wheel, power adjustable pedals, trunk mat, power tilt/telescoping steering wheel, power rear sunshade, 160-amp alternator, auto-dimming exterior mirrors, heated/cooled cupholder, driver memory for radio, seat, mirrors, pedals.  chrysler 300c 38,170) and chrysler 300c awd 40,320) add garmin navigation, sirius travel link, power adjustable pedals, 12-way power front seats, heated front and rear seats, power tilt and telescope steering column, a performance brake package, and other features.  options include the safety tec package 2,795) with adaptive hid headlights, forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-path detection, park assist, homelink, rear foglight. The sound group 650) includes the alpine stereo system with 506 watts of power, nine speakers, 12 channels, and 7. 1 matrix surround sound.  safety equipment on the chrysler 300 includes front, side and roof curtain air bags, and abs disc brakes with both ebd and brake assist, traction control, tire pressure monitoring system and stability control. All-wheel drive is available for more stable handling in slippery conditions. The safety tec package adds several safety features. walkaroundthe new, 2011 chrysler 300 looks like a large sedan version of the chrysler 200 midsize sedan and town & country minivan, with many of the same visual cues in the grille, headlamps, air intakes and front bumper. It's much sleeker and more rounded at the nose, but carries a much lower aerodynamic drag coefficient because of the rounded elements and the very laid-back windshield angle. Neither the windshield nor the rear window carries any bright moldings at all, unusual for a luxury car, but it works on the 300.  the profile view of the new chrysler 300 shows much more pronounced wheel lips front and rear, and they are connected by a sharp new body line that starts at the trailing edge of the front wheel well and rises continuously to finish at the side of the tail lamps. That line, coupled with the larger side windows, narrower pillars, and a new sculpted line at the bottom of the doors, does wonders to slim down and muscle up the new look of the 300.  at the rear, there's a cross-car chrome bar running across the bottom edge of the decklid between the new vertical led taillamps and a tall, flat rear bumper between the exhaust outlets that widens the look of the car at the rear. The execution of the led daytime running lights at the front and the led rear lamps is excellent. interiorthe 2011 chrysler 300 instrument panel, seat trims, door panels and door pockets have all been redesigned for more comfort and utility. The instrument panel, center stack, switches and controls have all been redone for the 2011 models.  one of the more pleasant surprises in the new chrysler 300 is the amount of light entering the car through the larger windows and their thinner pillars. Chrysler says outward vision has been improved by 15 percent over the gun-slit side window design of the last 300, and that makes a huge difference in the enjoyment of just driving or riding in the car. This is a big car, and the interior roominess and dimensions front and rear are generous, to say the least. The interior environment is classy without being chromy, and the lighting and instrumentation are spot-on.  although the seats and seat coverings have been redesigned for a more luxurious feel and appearance, the interior cube is the same as the outgoing 300, just over 122 cubic feet, making it a large car under epa rules. As for storage, the rated trunk capacity of the chrysler 300 is 16. 3 cubic feet.  the instrument panel contains a bright new two-round-gauge package, and is much more pleasing to the eye after the redesign, with much-improved graphics and ice-blue accent lighting that is brilliantly legible day or night. The center portion of the instrument panel is dominated by the industry's largest touch-screen control system, an 8. 4-inch screen that comes in base and limited versions with audio and climate functions, but in 300c and 300c awd versions comes with a brilliantly colorful, large-icon garmin navigation system (optional on limited versions, not available on 300). The chrysler 300 with the 3. 6-liter v6 is rated 18/27 mpg city/highway by the federal government on regular gas.  the chrysler 300c comes with the 5. 7-liter hemi v8 engine, generating 363 horsepower and 394 foot-pounds of torque, with a 5-speed automatic transmission. It's long on horsepower and high on torque for its size, very flexible and driveable in town and out on the highway with none of the roughness or graunchiness formerly associated with v6 engines. The v6 delivers 63 percent more power and 36 percent more torque than the old 2. 7-liter v6, and 42 more horsepower and 10 foot-pounds more torque than the old 3. 5-liter v6. Plus it sounds good at wide-open-thrott. Bucket Seats✔ Power Windows✔ AM/FM✔ Cruise Control✔ Navigation System✔ Air Conditioning✔ Bluetooth

2004 chrysler pacifica review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Pacifica is not a minivan. It's not an suv nor is it a station wagon. Pacifica takes its name from chrysler's pacifica design studio in southern california, where it was conceived several years ago.  pacifica doesn't look like other crossovers. A 250-horsepower v6 from the sporty chrysler 300m sedan delivers plenty of thrust and the automatic shifts smoothly. On the road, pacifica is smooth and quiet, with a rear suspension that comes from a mercedes e-class sedan. Available all-wheel drive provides all-weather traction and handling. Pacifica doesn't look like anything else on the road. It's less radical and less expensive than the nissan murano and infiniti fx45 crossovers, its glass-to-steel proportions are new and different, yet by its grille, the pacifica couldn't be anything but a chrysler.  pacifica is as much as 18 inches longer and 6 inches wider than some of its crossover competitors. Yet it is almost 3 inches lower to the ground than a typical minivan, which makes it easier to climb inside.  while the pacifica is in the lower part of the e-class price range, it is still a chrysler, as evidenced by its homegrown powertrain, the biggest, most powerful v6 chrysler has ever made, more than enough to haul typical family loads, and rated to tow as much as 3500 pounds. interiorclimbing into the chrysler pacifica is easy because it is relatively low to the ground. Redundant controls are mounted on the steering wheel for the cruise control and sound system. There's just enough brushed nickel-plating inside, on the shifter surround, the ventilators, and the door handles, to brighten up the interior without it looking gaudy.  the instrument panel is done as one swooping enclosure that goes from the back of the left door around to the back of the right front door. The dash features a major hood and a minor hood to keep the sun off the instrument faces. Under the sweeping hood, there's an interesting-looking set of instruments and controls, and right in the center of the speedometer, there's the small navigation screen, exactly where it should be for safest use. The dvd-based nav system is set up and run by a circular switch panel to the right of the steering wheel. Chrysler's new system is one of the easiest we've encountered, far simpler than the mercedes-benz system.  third-row seats fold down 50/50 and disappear for large cargoes. Second-row seats can be split into two sections and folded over to handle still larger cargoes. The second-row seats, split by the standard console, are as handsome as the front seats, but they do have to fold over for cargo, so they're not quite as cushy as the fronts. All the seat-folding symbols and directions were easy to follow the first time out. driving impressionthe pacifica we drove was a loaded-up version with the big stereo system, sirius satellite radio, the in-dash navigation system, and all-wheel drive. Chrysler is already working on that. But no matter how it sounds, the engine delivers. The autostick feature for manual shifting is fun to use, and the all-wheel-drive system is transparent. We were a little disappointed that the pacifica didn't come with a more flexible five-speed automatic, however.  under normal conditions, the all-wheel-drive system sends all of the power to the front wheels. But it can transfer up to 90 percent of the power to the rear wheels. It does this whenever the front wheels lose grip (under hard acceleration, for example). This feature helps the pacifica sail through corners like a sports sedan, rain or shine. The all-wheel-drive uses a viscous coupling in the center differential and an open differential at the rear.  while the steering system is not race-car communicative or direct, it's better than many, and the steering wheel feels good in the hands. We found the suspension a willing partner in the vehicle's performance, smooth and supple while controlling lean and wallow. The isolated front and rear subframes, the long wheelbase and wide stance really help to deliver a quality ride. The brakes got a workout from us, and they responded every time without fade or smell or any sign of distress. Abs comes standard, allowing the drive to maintain steering control under panic braking. summarychrysler pacifica turns and accelerates well in the dry weather of the california wine country, and we're itching to find out how it goes in a blinding rainstorm or on top of 12 inches of snow.  whether this really is a whole new kind of family transportation device or not, a 'segment buster' in chrysler's words, it's a lot of very versatile vehicle for the money.
